Dating: Do's and Don'ts

Notes

  • Year: 1949

  • The video starts off with how one should choose a date.

  • Alan seems to follow /understand these norms (similar to Edward in the video) while Hal struggles (similar to Alan in the video)

  • Around 6:29 it's shows a girl getting ready for her date and her little sister joins her and asks questions.
  • Around 10:40 it shows the standard for saying goodnight after a date.

The Trouble With Women

Notes

  • The video is very heavy-handed in its discussion about women’s reliability in the workplace.

  • The structure of the video is a conversation between a sexist head of a clothing department and his more levelheaded boss. The boss describes women as “accurate” and “quick to catch mistakes.” The video proceeds to show short vignettes of the department head’s interactions with women.

Boys Beware

Notes

  • An informational/propaganda video explaining the dangers of homosexuality to young men.

  • The assumption that the video makes is that homosexuality is equivalent to pedophilia. In addition, homosexuality is a "trap" that anyone can fall into.
